![]() He attacked Chopper in a rage of prejudice and spite, and Chopper was forced to fight back, willing himself to carry on and get the mushroom. ![]() Though most of the herd stopped and stared at him with silent scorn, the leader, a vicious older male whose forehead was covered in scars from combat, wanted to kill him for returning after the herd had cast him out. Chopper's arduous journey was a success, even though he risked his life and suffered many injuries, the worst of which occurred when during his journey into the wilderness, in order to get to the mushroom, which was growing atop a treacherous cliff, he had to cross through the territory of his old herd. Remembering what he overheard by some villagers that a "certain" type of mushroom can heal every illness, Chopper steals Hiriluk's favorite medical book to find the miracle mushroom. He soon found the cure he was looking for: an Amiudake, a special kind of mushroom with skull-and-crossbones prominently displayed in the medical book (although unaware of what that sign meant medically due to Hiriluk's praising of pirates and the Jolly Roger). Once Chopper found out what had happened, however, he vowed to find a cure for his mentor, his one, and only friend. When Hiriluk's health worsened, Chopper was left in the cold again as the old man did not want Chopper to watch him die. The two went from house to house, administering their "cures" in a country where all doctors not sanctioned by King Wapol were banned. Hiriluk taught Chopper his philosophy on life (that all diseases could be cured) and his strong faith in the Jolly Roger as a symbol of strength against all odds. Although his deeds were of dubious medical value, Hiriluk became Chopper's role-model. Hiriluk, who named him and took him in as his friend and "assistant". Unfortunately for Chopper, his attempts at communicating with the humans on Drum Island proved disastrous, with the villagers mistaking him for a Yeti and shooting at him. When the young reindeer ate the Hito Hito no Mi, however, his herd ostracized him (and with the increase in intelligence granted by the fruit, he was now acutely aware of it), and he struck out on his own. 6.2 Straw Hat Separation Adventure: Torino KingdomĬhopper was originally a reindeer born 17 years ago on Drum Island, with the slight oddity of a blue nose, which caused other reindeer, even his parents, to treat him as an outcast (always making him follow the herd from far back). From the lack of ambition to limiting his options, Sanji became one of the strongest characters in One Piece against all expectations. Sanji mostly pursues strength to defend his friends and support Luffy's ambition, while his own personal dream remains one that is more suited to a cook than to an ambitious fighter. In fact, his path to strength is even more compelling and interesting than those of his two powerful companions, who follow pretty established stereotypes. However, this doesn't mean that Sanji is weak. This is because, fundamentally, Sanji is not a fighter like Zoro and Luffy. Even when his Germa genetic enhancements awanekend in his body, he struggled to accept and make use of them. Sanji limits his strength in many ways, including destroying his Germa suit. However, the differences between the two are more philosophical than anything. Roger's right-hand man, Silver Rayleigh, and the strongest swordsman, Mihawk.ĭespite that, Sanji managed to reach a level of strength similar to Zoro's (and fans will never stop debating who is stronger between Zoro and Sanji). While Sanji did receive some training from the powerful Ivankov, this pales in comparison to the masters that Luffy and Zoro had during the time skip: Gol D. Sanji was sent to the Kamabakka Kingdom, where he had to (in his words) "survive" the okamas chasing him, and challenge the masters of the Newkama kempo. They spent two years honing their techniques and specialties, and each member came back stronger and more proficient. The time skip was a crucial point for the Straw Hats, as they saw how utterly weak they were against Kuma and Kizaru. His morals and philosophies significantly disadvantage him, although it's admirable that he is unwavering in his beliefs. This is because he believes a chef should only use his hands to cook for others and not harm them. ![]() Furthermore, Sanji does not use his hands to fight. ![]() This sometimes causes problems for him, as the Grand Line is filled with powerful women like Boa Hancock and Captain Hina. Sanji is considered a serial womanizer, which causes him to not fight women no matter what.
